Spennymoor

Did you know? Spennymoor a former pit village in County Durham. Stands above the Wear Valley approximately seven miles south of Durham.

Dating from 1183, the Whitworth Hall estate, Spennymoor was owned by the Shafto family for over 300 years, including County Durham MP “Bonnie Bobby Shafto”, which was made famous by the well known nursery rhyme. It is now the site of Whitworth Hall Hotel.
